Where we work
Mid-century bungalows and postwar ranchers with original slab floors. We know the housing stock and work within the tight room sizes common to the neighborhood.
See projectsCraftsman homes and Tudor revivals along McKinley Park and the Fabulous Forties grid. Older homes often need subfloor leveling before any tile goes down.
See projectsA neighborhood in active renovation. We work on gut rehabs and incremental upgrades alike, from full kitchen demo-and-tile to single bathroom refreshes.
See projectsWho we are
We are a local tile installation crew based on Folsom Blvd, serving Tahoe Park, East Sacramento, and Oak Park. We do not subcontract the work out. The people who answer the phone are the people who show up at your door.
Every job starts with honest prep: checking the substrate, confirming the layout, sourcing material that fits the space. We have seen what happens when those steps are skipped. We do not skip them.

Quick answers
Common questions about tile installation in Sacramento. Type any word and the list filters instantly.
It depends on square footage and complexity. A standard bathroom floor takes one to two days for install, then at least another day before you should walk on it. A full bathroom surround with waterproofing runs three to five days total. Larger floor areas scale from there.
Usually yes. Tiling over existing tile adds height, can create lippage, and hides problems with the substrate underneath. We can handle demo as part of the job if needed. If the existing tile is in excellent condition and the layout allows for the height increase, we will tell you honestly whether going over makes sense.
Porcelain is denser and absorbs less water, which matters in wet areas and outdoors. It is also harder to cut. Ceramic is easier to work with and costs less, but it is not the right call for shower floors or exterior Sacramento patios where freeze-thaw cycles can cause problems. We will recommend what actually fits the space.
Walk the floor and feel for soft spots, bounce, or flex. Tile is rigid — if the floor underneath moves, the grout will crack and tiles can loosen over time. We always check deflection before we start. If the subfloor needs patching or an additional layer of cement board, we will say so before the job begins, not after.
For shower walls, a non-sanded grout works in joints under 1/8 inch. For shower floors, sanded or an epoxy blend holds up better. We recommend epoxy grout in high-traffic wet areas because it resists staining and does not need sealing. Standard grout on a shower floor needs sealing annually if you want it to stay clean-looking.
Yes, and we take it seriously. We use a membrane system — either sheet-applied or a liquid-applied barrier like Schluter Kerdi or RedGard — before any tile goes on the shower walls or pan. This is the step that determines whether your shower lasts ten years or forty. We do not skip it to save time.
Sometimes. If the tile is a current production run, we can often source matching material. If it is discontinued, we can source something close and let you decide whether a visible seam is acceptable or whether a full replacement makes more sense. We will give you the honest picture before any work starts.
Our primary areas are Tahoe Park, East Sacramento, and Oak Park. These are the neighborhoods we know well and where most of our work is concentrated. For jobs just outside these areas, reach out and we can let you know whether we are able to schedule it.
Most thinset adhesives reach handling strength in 24 hours, but 48 hours is safer for floors with regular foot traffic. Grout needs at least 24 hours before getting wet. For shower pans, we recommend waiting 72 hours before the first use. These are not arbitrary numbers — rushing it risks cracking joints before the material has cured.
Either way works. We can source tile through our suppliers, which sometimes gives access to commercial pricing on quality material. Or if you have already chosen and purchased your tile, we are happy to work with what you have. If you are buying your own, order 10-15% overage for cuts and breakage — this is standard practice and saves you a second order trip.
Lippage is the height difference between the edges of adjacent tiles. Even a small amount — 1/16 of an inch — is noticeable underfoot and creates a trip hazard on floors. Large-format tiles are more prone to lippage if the substrate is not flat. We check and correct flatness before layout so the finished floor feels and looks level.
Yes. Patios, pool surrounds, and exterior steps. The Sacramento Valley gets real heat in summer and occasional frost in winter. Tile for exterior use needs a low water absorption rating so it does not crack when moisture inside it expands. We only spec outdoor-rated porcelain or natural stone for exterior Sacramento installs.
